About
Rotorua Walking Tours was an idea that manifested out of my (Burnadette Payne) travel abroad and many walking tours, combined with wanting to offer opportunities for students to be involved with the Tourism Business during their studies. Recently expanding an existing training school for young people into Tourism, I was determined that we provide practical experiences for trainees. Working in second chance learning is valuable to students so that they can be involved in practical work in a real and well-managed business. And so, Rotorua Walking Tours was born.
Our Eco-Friendly Tour
Exploring Rotorua the sustainable way.
Why Our Walking Tour Is Eco-Friendly
Walking is one of the most sustainable ways to explore Rotorua. By leaving vehicles behind, we reduce emissions and avoid putting extra pressure on the fragile geothermal environment. Travelling on foot allows us to respect heritage sites and protect the natural features that make this place so special. At the same time, walking tours support the local community by encouraging a deeper appreciation of Rotorua’s cultural stories and landscapes. Choosing to walk is a small step that helps ensure these treasures are preserved for future generations.
Sustainable Steps
Tourism around the world is starting to rethink its impact, and Rotorua is no different. We offer a way to explore without relying on cars or buses, which contribute to air pollution and congestion. By keeping our tours low-impact, we help protect Rotorua’s delicate geothermal areas and fragile landscapes. Every tour contributes to a global movement toward sustainable travel, showing that it’s possible to enjoy iconic destinations while leaving them unharmed.
Inspiring The Next Generation
We’re working with young people who will lead the future of tourism in Rotorua. By teaching them the principles of eco-friendly travel such as minimizing emissions, protecting natural landscapes, and respecting fragile geothermal features, we’re helping ensure that sustainable practices continue long into the future. These future leaders will carry forward the values of responsible tourism, keeping Rotorua beautiful and thriving for generations to come.
